Behaviour Consultation

Understanding and improving behaviour where it happens, in your pet’s own home.

About this service

Behaviour understood where it happens

Behaviour problems are far easier to understand where they actually happen. We assess anxiety, fear, aggression, toileting issues and other concerns in your pet’s own environment.

From there we build a practical, fear-free plan tailored to your household, taking a holistic view that considers home modifications, enrichment, medical causes and, where helpful, medication.

What happens

What to expect during your visit

  1. A fear-free physical exam. We work at a pace your pet is comfortable with, guided by their stress levels and what they allow on the day.

  2. A detailed discussion of the behaviour concern. We talk through what you have noticed, when it happens and what tends to trigger it.

  3. Medical history and routine. We review past health issues alongside daily routine and the home environment.

  4. Assessment for underlying medical causes. We consider pain, illness and cognitive decline, since behaviour changes often have a physical root.

  5. Observation in the home. Seeing your pet in their own space shows us how they move, settle and respond day to day.

  6. A personalised management plan. We build a plan around your pet, your household and what is realistic for you to follow.

  7. Recommendations and next steps. These may include environmental changes, enrichment, medication, or referral to a behaviour specialist or trainer.
